The 2005 U.S. Amateur Championship began Friday afternoon at Mr. Cues II. The top amateur players from around North America went to Atlanta to compete for the coveted title of U.S. Amateur Champion and a ticket to the pro ranks.

Earlier this year the CPA/APA held a local qualifier tournament at Landmark Billiards in Mississauga. We had one womens spot and two mens spots up for grabs. This tournament was open to all amateur players.

Allen Smart and Andrew Attard topped their field to capture the Mens spots and Jane Adams took the womens event. These three players won trips to Atlanta this past week to compete in the National Championship event.

Jane got off to a great start on Friday winning her first two matches in the tournament but on the Saturday lost her next two finishing 9th-12th.

Allen Smart and Andrew Attard also finished 9th-12th Andrew making a strong run through the A side of the bracket and Allen getting knocked to the B-side but fighting the whole way to earn his finish.

Congratualations to Allen, Andrew and Jane!
