So it's been the week long battle and the deciding ball has dropped as Alain Robidoux finished a run against Kirk Stevens and claims the Hamilton Air Force Associations 7th Annual Invitational Pro/Am Snooker Tournament. A veteran’s organization based in Dundas H.A.F.A. is rich with great people, and great community spirit. Any group that makes one of their objectives "to assist any and all public bodies in all activities not withstanding race, colour or creed" deserves to be noticed!

President Dawn Marie Lain of the Hamilton Air Force Association spoke very eloquently after the final and made sure everyone that helped out was given deserved credit for their contribution. The staff and members of H.A.F.A. make everyone feel at home as they set the stage and continue to be an amazing host and supporters of snooker. What a team they put together for this event, friendly service, lot's of great prizes, great food including great daily specials and all the snooker you can handle!!

I attended a few of the matches through the week and was treated to not only great snooker but got to be around so many great people, especially my buddy George Lemaich SR, we always have a good laugh.

In the final Kirk Stevens played flawless and started that match with a speedy 3-0 lead. From there it would be the Alain Robidoux show as he put together runs and stalled Kirks momentum not giving up many good opportunities. Robidoux would go on to complete the victory by a 6-4 score grabbing the $3000 first prize, Stevens would settle for second and $1500. Thanks to both of you for such an entertaining final match, it was awesome to watch!!

On a side note I wanted to mention some of the great respect and trust I saw between players, players should take note of this. As a fan of pool I would much rather watch two guys with mutual respect for one another, trust and honesty than arguing, cheating and trying to get any edge. When John White played Kirk Stevens he missed a ball, and the ref called it a miss but seemed unsure where the ball needed to be spotted for a second attempt. From in his chair Kirk asked the ref to just check with John to see where it was trusting that John would spot it honestly which he did. I remember lot's of great shots but it's stuff like this that impresses me the most.

Finally I wanted to give big thumbs up to Oddie Willet and his crew including the score keepers, MC, and referees. Great job guys!!

Hope to see more of you guys out there watching next year!!

Our friends at www.snookerline.com have all the details on this event including the full bracket.
