Final Brackets

Curtis Houlden, Morgan Bristow, and the Tailgators staff opened their doors with a bang as they welcomed Canada's most skilled cueists. This weekend was the grand opening of the old LeSkratch in Ottawa, revamped the ambiance inside was one of total comfort and class, great food, great staff, and great couches.

Our top players are asked time and time again to adapt to all different table conditions, the players battled this weekend to figure out the cloth and rails. Aside from a truly beautiful and welcoming facility players expect tournament table conditions be a little more consistent from one venue to another and there were many disappointed competitors.

I would never ignore their concerns, I have a good understanding of what made the tables play so tough, and that it was not ideal equipment for a major Canadian tour stop. However at the end of the day you're there to try to win a tournament and the mentally strong would put the conditions aside taking advantage of others frustrations and rise to the top. For the number of players that felt the conditions cost them matches there were others that felt they were really tough, but they put that aside and showed they could adapt.

Sometimes we have to remember we play a game where the venues are businesses run by people like Curtis and Morgan who are trying to make a living where so many pool rooms have failed. Thanks for being such a great host and supporters of the game guys!!

Jim Wych had a smaller team there this weekend, but Brian, Mike and himself did such a great job as usual! Jim has a way of bringing the best people together, great recruiting!

Mike and Jim have put a great story about the tournament together and it can be found at their website, so check it out!!
