The third event of the 404 series was a great turnout considering our Weather forecasting was telling everyone to stay indoors unless there was "no other choice". Well, 42 players and many onlookers had "no other choice" but to make it to event #3 of the 404 9Ball series. There were a few new faces as well as the regulars that made their way through the weather warning to try their luck at the awaiting competition.

That competition began with 42 players for the Saturday matches, but only 8 players were scheduled to return Sunday for the payout rounds. Some of the notables not returning Sunday were Erik Hjorleifson, Eric Hildebrand and Marcel Gauvreau However, the 8 players that did come back Sunday were no slouches.

The first Sunday B-Side Matches began with Andrew Attard losing to Mario Morra and Rodel Puruganun losing to Raphael Balverde. Andrew and Rodel settle for 7/8. This gives way to another B-Side match between Johnny Morra and Raphael Balverde. Johnny wins and Raphael accepts a 5/6 finish. Not to be outdone by his son, Mario Morra Defeats Justin Kluznic 10 - 7 to place Justin in a tie for 5th and to set up the next Morra vs Morra match. Youth prevails and Mario accepts a 4th place finish losing 10-7 to son Johnny. Now with 3 players in the fold, Larry Firth takes the first shot at Johnny Morra. Johnny, now in high gear wins the match 10-4 leaving Larry to accept 3rd place on the podium. This makes Johnny the B-Side winner ready to play Robin Bass in the final. Not to be denied this victory, Johnny takes the win 10-6 over Robin.

Story by:Erik Hjorleifson, 5/7/2009

On the weekend of April 25-26 BigWigs in Newmarket, Ontario held the final event of the 2008-2009 404 series. I believe that all around this was the most successful and well received tour that has taken place as of yet in the Toronto area, in all roughly 200 different players participated in at least one event throughout the course of the year, with an average of close to 64 players per event.
