Last night at Shooters Billiards in North York Erik Hjorleifson and John Morra began their race to 75. The night would conclude when one player had won 25 games and set the stage for Day 2 and Day 3. More than 40 people made it out to watch these two great players clash for the cash.

This event was made possible through sponsorship from Licos Cues, db Cues, The Canadian 9-Ball Tour, Shooters Billiards and Shooterville.com.

So let's get to the action. Erik took an early lead and never let up, he kept firing away game after game with Johnny only able to capture one out of every 2. As Erik climbed closer to the Day 1 finish line and a 20-9 advantage Johnny started to fight back winning 2 games to Erik's 1 from there. When all was said and done Erik finished Day 1 with a 25-21 advantage.

Day 2 takes place tomorrow night (Thursday, January 17) and will simply continue where the score left off and end when one player gets his score to 50.

I will be there Thursday and have a quicker update of the action leading into the final day.

Special thanks to Erik and Johnny, though this is more a showcase of skill and the talent it's the heart and hunger to win that makes these two young men among Canada's best. It's too close to call in my eyes both players have the ability to keep you in your seat while they string racks together, I can't wait to watch on Thursday!

The sponsors and players would like to thank all of the spectators that came out for Day 1 for their support. I know the audience will grow as the match moves to Day 2 and Day 3, so if you missed Day 1 get out there, you wont be disappointed!!
