Maple Leaf Billiards is pleased and proud to announce the Grand Opening of the new CPA endorsed location at 1916 Dundas St. East, Unit 1B, in Whitby, Ontario. Invited guests include league, novice and occasional pool players as well as Whitby Mayor Pat Perkins, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, MPP Christine Elliott, Councillor Lorne Coe, Regional Chair Roger Anderson, pool stars Cliff Thorburn, John and Mario Morra, Eric Hjorleifson and numerous celebrity players.

The Grand Opening is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Feb. 16th with the doors opening at 10:00 a.m. The featured celebrity guest will be Mr. Bruce “Superstroke” Christopher. “Superstroke” played and defeated such pool legends as Steve Mizerak, Al Hopkins, Minnesota Fats and the man himself; Mr. Willie Mosconi. Mr. Christopher is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records for having potted an unbelievable 5,688 balls in succession. He is also credited with having been the creator of Speed Pool.

Mr. Christopher will accept challenges from anyone confident enough who would like to play a rack of 9-ball, from 1 ‘til 6 o’clock. Proceeds for the day will go to Rose of Durham with the contribution of $10 per rack.

There will be raffles, silent auctions, contests and prizes throughout the day, so come early and stay late so you can win!

Maple Leaf Billiards is designed and positioned as an upscale billiards establishment for the entire family. Approaching their second anniversary in business, owner and operator Bill Caukwell understands and appreciates how important it is to give back to the community. This is one of numerous fundraisers which Bill has organized throughout his life, and hopes that this will inspire other businesses to think of opportunities to help support those in need of our commitment as responsible citizens and business owners.

We look forward to seeing you at our Grand Opening, starting at 10 o’clock a.m. On Feb. 16, 2008 at 1916 Dundas St. East, Unit 1B. Please feel free to bring your family and friends, and to let others know of this spectacular event!
