"A Stroke of Magic" Presents the Canadian Women’s Professional Billiard Association/Tour.
Anita McMahon, 6/5/2009 | Canadian Women’s Professional Billiard Association/Tour

Naomi Williams - Canadian Champion

Press release for June 5, 2009:

The new pro tour for women in Canada will have five tournaments in total for 2009-2010 seasons in four different locations beginning in December 2009, with a ‘finale’ in June 2010 at a casino.

The new pro tour was formed by retired professional and multiple Canadian 9-ball and Snooker Champion Anita McMahon, who’s now in University to obtain a degree in Psychology to later go to medical school to become a doctor of psychology for abused and sexually abused children within the Aboriginal Community.

Anita always hoped for a Canadian Professional Billiards Tour for Women, as Canada being a big and beautiful country and with the growing talent in Canada which has seen new heights, there’s no reason why we can’t have our own professional tour for women. For myself, I don’t know at this point if I ever will return to Billiards because at this present time in my life, I’m quite pleased with what I’ve achieved for myself in Billiards as one only wishes to achieve just one Canadian title and I’ve done that many times over. My life is different now, and it’s not about winning titles any more, it’s about wanting to make a difference in a child’s life, and to also make a difference within the Aboriginal Community.

The new professional tour has 20 professional women who are from different parts of the country and range from Canadian Champions in 8-ball, 9-ball, Snooker, Amateur 9-ball, and one World Junior 9-ball champion.

The list of professional women:

Mona Remedios AB
Beverley Ashton AB
Joanne Ashton AB
Claire Schram MB
Eileen Chomik MB
Valerie Henderson MB
Sheri Richardson ON
Grace Nakamura ON
Maureen Seto ON
Rachael Abbink ON
Naomi Williams ON
Leanne Amable ON
Kristy de Vries ON
Brittany Bryant ON
Myriam Lafranchise PQ

There is also four players who are on stand-by for reasons where one or more of the original participants can’t participate in any of the schedule events this way we have women on stand-by for such unforeseen circumstances. A full schedule of events will follow for the first season of the new professional tour, along with the official website for the new professional tour for women in Canada.
